Sair Named Starting Tailback, Smith Quarterback

10/16/2009

Junior fullback Dom Sair has shifted to tailback and named the starter for the SUNY Cortland offense. The Red Dragons have struggled to run the ball this season averaging a mere 3.2 yards per carry. Sair has averaged 3.5 yards per carry, tops on the team for players with at least 20 rush attempts.

Rumors were confirmed Hudson Woodward suffered a season ending injury at Montclair last Saturday. Woodward is the second starting quarterback to have his season ended by injury in 2009. Alex Smith will return to the starting quarterback position for the first time since 2007. Freshman Rob Von Bargen is now the second string quarterback. Cortland baseball catcher Justin Fredenburg joined the football team this week as a third potential quarterback. Fredenburg was a starting quarterback for four seasons at Saugerties High School.
