Stalwart Defensive Ends named All-ECAC

12/21/2009

Defensive Ends Evan Wyler and Bryan Wiley have been named to the 2009 All-ECAC Team.

The star defensive ends were a nightmare for NJAC offenses in 2009, stopping the run and rushing the quarterback from both sides of the line. Wiley and Wyler shared the team lead with 10 sacks, each averaging 0.9 sacks per game (23rd in the nation).

Wiley recorded 10 quarterback hurries, 17.5 tackles for losses, 39 solo tackles, and forced and recovered two fumbles. Wyler, who potentially has another season of eligibility due to a 2007 medical hardship, led Cortland with 18.5 tackles for losses, 20 quarterback hurries, and 41 solo tackles.

The Red Dragons defense averaged 3.0 sacks per game (18th nationally) while yielding only 269.5 yards per game (21st nationally).
